BreakdownAdd an element by hand
Add something the script does not name, such as an effect or a vehicle, or reuse a catalog item by name.
Before you start
- A scene is open in Breakdown.
Steps
Click Add Element in the panel.
The Add Element sheet asks: What does Scene 1 need? Pick an existing catalog item or create a new one. It has a Category menu, a Name box, a Notes (optional) box and the buttons Cancel and Add to Scene 1.
Open the Category menu and choose a category.
The menu holds all eleven categories, including Extras / Background, Vehicles, Hair / Makeup, Special Effects, VFX and Animals.
Type a name, for example Flickering monitor, under Name.
A Catalog item choice appears: Create new item “Flickering monitor”, added to the production catalog. Add a note in Notes (optional) if you need one.
If the name matches something already in the catalog, choose between the existing item and a new one.
Typing Umbrella offers Use existing: Umbrella, with details such as Prop · Required · used in scene 1 and a Same item label. Create new item “Umbrella” is the other choice. Choose Use existing so scenes share one item.
Click Add to Scene 1.
The element appears under its category, here a new Special Effects group with Flickering monitor. A message says Added “Flickering monitor” to Scene 1, with Undo.
What you get
The element is in the scene and in the production catalog.
Watch out for
- Add to Scene 1 uses the number of the open scene. Check the scene number before you click.
