Free memory or choose how the AI runs

Stop OpenFrame AI to free memory, and choose whether it may use the graphics card.

Intermediate4 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • OpenFrame AI is downloaded and shows AI Ready.

Steps

  1. Click Stop Offline AI (free memory).

OpenFrame AI keeps its models in memory so answers start fast. Stopping releases that memory.

  2. Read the message at the bottom.

It says Offline AI stopped. It starts again when you ask something. You do not need to start it yourself. Click Dismiss to close the message.

  3. Under Graphics card, click Automatic or Off.

Automatic uses a graphics card only after it passes a short check, and the processor is always the fallback. Off always uses the processor. A line under the choice says where the AI runs now. The choice is decided before the first answer.

  4. After clicking Off, read the message at the bottom: OpenFrame AI will run on the processor.

Off is now the selected button. Choosing Automatic again says OpenFrame AI will use a checked graphics card when there is one.

What you get

Memory is free again, and OpenFrame AI runs where you chose.

Watch out for

  • Choose Off if answers stall or the screen stutters while OpenFrame AI works.
