Change the colour and icon of a Breakdown category

Give a Breakdown category a different colour or icon, and restore the defaults.

Intermediate3 stepsWindows

Before you start

  • A project is open and you are on the Advanced tab.

Steps

  1. Look at the list. There is one row for each of the eleven categories: Cast, Extras / Background, Location / Set, Props, Wardrobe, Vehicles, Hair / Makeup, Special Effects, VFX, Sound and Animals.

Each row shows the category's mark and its description. The row of coloured dots offers twelve colours: Red, Orange, Amber, Green, Teal, Cyan, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Pink, Brown and Slate. Under it is a row of sixteen icons. The colour and icon now in use are marked. The line under the title says every category also keeps its name and description, so colour is never the only signal.

  2. Click a colour dot, or an icon, on the row you want to change.

The mark changes at once, the row shows a Changed chip, and a message says Changed the look of Cast with Undo. Click Undo to go back. Colour and icon are chosen separately.

  3. To go back to the standard look, click Restore Defaults at the top right.

A message says Restored the default category colours and icons, with Undo. Restore Defaults is greyed out when no category has been changed. The Breakdown tutorials shows where the colours and icons appear.

What you get

Breakdown categories show the colours and icons you chose.

Watch out for

  • Keep colours distinct from each other if you print breakdowns in black and white. The category name always prints.
