TemplatesMake a document from a template
Create a new document from a starting point, as an independent copy.
Before you start
- The Templates tab is open.
Steps
Click the three dots on a card and choose the action that starts the document, for example Start the screenplay or Use in This Project.
The same actions are at the bottom of the preview panel.
Read the window that opens, for example Create a call sheet.
It says From “Indie Call Sheet”. The new document is an independent copy. A line tells you when it cannot be made yet, for example Every shooting day already has a call sheet, or the schedule has no shooting day yet. It also says: Undo removes everything this creates in one step. If any part can't be made, nothing is created.
Click Create. Cancel closes the window and creates nothing.
The new document is made in your project. To take it back, choose Undo Project Change in the Edit menu.
What you get
A new document exists in the project, copied from the template.
Watch out for
- The new document is a copy. Editing it later never changes the template.
- If the window says nothing can be created yet, do what it says first. For a call sheet that means having a shooting day in the schedule.
