Import a theme from a file or by pasting its text

Add a theme made by someone else to My Themes.

Intermediate3 stepsMac

Before you start

  • You have an OpenFrame theme file (a small .json file, for example from the OpenFrame website) or its text.

Steps

  1. On Appearance, scroll to My Themes. Click Import Theme File… to pick a file on your Mac, or Paste Theme… to paste its text.

Until you add one, My Themes says: No imported themes yet. Theme files are small .json files, for example from the OpenFrame website.

  2. If you chose Paste Theme…, click in the Theme text box and paste the text.

The sheet is called Import theme and says: Paste the text of an OpenFrame theme file. It is checked before anything is saved. A counter under the box reads 0.0 KB of 10 KB. and shows how much you have pasted. Ten kilobytes is the limit.

  3. If the text is not a usable theme, read the message and click Edit the text.

The sheet says: This theme cannot be used. Nothing was changed. It then lists what is missing, for example that the file has no formatVersion, no id or no seeds object. Edit the text and try again, or get a fresh copy of the theme file.

What you get

The theme appears under My Themes and you can choose it like any other.

Watch out for

  • The theme is checked before it is saved, so a wrong file never changes your settings.
