Settings

Choose Light, Dark or System, and a theme

Change how the whole app looks.

Beginner3 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The Settings window is open.

Steps

  1. Click Appearance. Under Mode, click System, Light or Dark.

System follows your Mac. Light and Dark stay as you set them. Under Theme, each card shows a small preview, the theme name and a one line description. The theme in use has an orange outline and a tick: here OpenFrame Default.

  2. Click another theme card.

The new theme takes effect at once across the app. Choose another card at any time to change it again. Black and White, for example, is black text on white in Light mode and white text on black in Dark mode.

  3. Scroll down to see the rest of the themes and My Themes.

The built in themes are OpenFrame Default, Black and White, Studio Amber, Slate Noir, Midnight Reel, Teal & Orange, Courier & Cream, Cutting Room, Velvet Curtain, Sunset Boulevard, Arctic Frame, Neon Reel, Location Scout, Desert Dune, Colorist Neutral, Silver Screen and High Contrast. High Contrast uses hard black and white edges with a signal yellow accent.

What you get

The app uses the mode and theme you picked.

Watch out for

  • If the colours look wrong, check Mode. Light or Dark overrides what your Mac is set to.
  • A project can also have its own Appearance page in Project Settings.
