ScreenplayFind your way around the Screenplay page
Know what each part of the Screenplay page does before you write.
Before you start
- A project is open. Choose Screenplay in the sidebar.
Steps
Look at the bar above the page, then at the scene list and the page.
The first row of the bar has the screenplay picker (LOST PROPERTY here), Compare, Comments (0), the Element menu, Scenes, Find, Replace and the Draft menu. The second row has Zoom Out, 100%, Zoom In, Screenplay Tools, the page counter and Saved. The scene list shows Scenes (10) and one row per scene. The dark notice at the bottom, Imported screenplay with Undo and Dismiss, appears after an import.
Click Screenplay Tools.
The menu groups the less frequent actions. Add Comment (Option-Command-M), Scene Hub and Show Inspector. Drafts… and Lock as Shooting Draft…. Page Setup…, Title Page…, Custom Elements… and Page View…. Dark page, which switches the page to a dark background. Layout and Import and Export, which open submenus. Press Esc to close the menu.
Open a new project's screenplay to see the empty state.
A project with nothing written shows Scenes (1) with an Untitled scene, a blank page and the draft name Draft 1. The page counter reads 1 page.
What you get
You can name every part of the Screenplay page and know where each tool is.
Watch out for
- The page counter and the zoom value change as you scroll and zoom. They are information, not buttons you need.
