Recovery

Reopen a project after OpenFrame closed unexpectedly

Open your project again after a forced quit or a crash, and keep your latest work.

Beginner5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • OpenFrame closed without you quitting it, for example after a forced quit or a power cut.

Steps

  1. Open OpenFrame Studio again.

Application Home opens as usual. Your project is still on its card, with its title, type, status and Last modified. Nothing is removed from the list.

  2. Click the card of the project you were working in.

The project opens. If OpenFrame closed unexpectedly the last time you used it, a message appears over the project.

  3. Read the message OpenFrame closed unexpectedly last time.

It says: Your latest work was kept. Last saved, followed by the date and time of the last save. The project page is behind the message, with Saved in the sidebar. The RECENT list on Project Home shows your last changes, for example Typing in Scene 1.

  4. Click Keep the latest work.

The message closes and the project is ready. This is the only choice, because OpenFrame has already kept your latest work.

  5. Look at Project Home.

The page is back to normal. RECENT shows the changes that were saved before the app closed, for example Typing in Scene 1 and Created the screenplay. Check your pages to see that your work is there.

What you get

The project is open with your latest saved work, and you can carry on.

Watch out for

  • The message tells you the time of the last save. If you typed after that time, check your last few lines.
  • Keep your library folder backed up. A backup protects you from more than a crash. See the Packages tutorials.
