HomeCreate your first project
Make a project with a title and a type, and open it.
Before you start
- Application Home is open with no projects, so it says Create your first project.
Steps
Click Create Project.
The page says: A project holds your ideas, beat board, screenplay and production plan for one film. Everything is stored on this computer. The other two buttons are for later. Open Existing Project opens a project you already have. Restore Backup or Package… opens a backup or package file.
The New Project sheet opens. Click in the Title box.
The sheet has Title, Type, Genre, Written by and Location. Title shows the hint Untitled film. Create stays greyed out until you type a title. Genre and Written by say Optional. Location shows the folder where the project will be made, with a Choose… button.
Type a title, for example Night Bus.
Create is now ready. Cancel closes the sheet and makes nothing.
Click the Type control.
The menu offers Feature Film and Short Film. Feature Film is chosen when the sheet opens.
Choose Short Film if that is what you are making. Fill in Genre and Written by if you want, or click Choose… to put the project in another folder.
Genre and Written by are optional. Choose… opens a macOS window where you pick the folder for the project.
Click Create.
The sheet closes and the new project opens on its Home page. See the Project Home tutorials.
What you get
A new project is saved in the folder shown under Location, and it is open on its Home page.
Watch out for
- The title is required. Create stays greyed out until you type one.
- Check Location before you click Create if you want the project somewhere other than the usual folder.
