Templates

Create a template of your own

Save a starting point you can reuse, in this project or in every project.

Intermediate5 stepsMac

Before you start

  • The Templates tab is open.

Steps

  1. Click Create Template.

A window opens: A saved starting point for new documents. It has Name, Type, Keep in, Description and Added sections, with Cancel and Create.

  2. Click the Type menu and choose what the template is for.

The choices are Call sheet, Screenplay starter, Shot list, Moodboard, Report, Beat Board starter, Breakdown document, Simple budget and Project starter.

  3. Type a name in Template name, for example Short night shoot call sheet. Under Keep in, choose This project or Every project.

This project keeps the template inside the project. Every project keeps it on this Mac so all projects can use it. Add a Description if you want.

  4. In Added sections, type one section per line, then click Create.

The box asks for Added sections (Weather, Crew, Extras…). These become the added sections of new documents made from this template. Cancel closes the window.

  5. Look at the page.

A message says Created “Short night shoot call sheet” in this project. The new template is listed under THIS PROJECT. YOURS still says: Save a project template to My Templates, or create one, to reuse it in every project.

What you get

Your template is on the page and ready to use.

Watch out for

  • Pick Keep in with care. A template kept in This project is not available in other projects until you save it to My Templates.
